Wednesday Humpday Midday Music: “World to be Born” from Xenosaga Episode I

I specifically listened to this song after my post about band names up for grabs, so I thought I’d feature it in a Wednesday post. Even though it’s on my soundtrack playlist, that thing’s got thousands of songs so this track can get lost in the mix. I didn’t mean for that pun to happen, but I initially wrote “lost in the shuffle,” which is still a pun. It’s hard to hit pause (haha) on unintentional jokes sometimes.

Anyways, I tried to find out at what point in the game this song played, but I couldn’t find it. It’s got that ethereal, restful quality that tells you an adventure has finished, but it wasn’t played at the end, and trouncing through “let’s play” videos for a game of this length is not really a my idea of a good time. This made me think it was an unused track, which was confirmed (sort of) on the Xeno series wiki site: World to be Born – Xeno Series Wiki.

Edit: thanks to Ed, who did 5 seconds more Internet research than it seems I was capable of, to find the Wikipedia entry for Metro Voices.

“World to be Born” was written by Yasunori Mitsuda, and sung by METRO VOICES. I couldn’t find any info on METRO VOICES and I’m not sure why their name is in all caps. It might be a Japanese-to-English translation thing.
