Believe Whatever You Want

One of the longest running gags in my mind staples of what I write here is that human reason is incapable of understanding a lot of what it’s purported to understand. This is exemplified best when we believe we’re being “reasonable” or “rational” concerning large, distant, complex events, involving lots of actors…basically anything seen or Believe Whatever You Want

Recipes: Paleo Lemon Bars

Apologies for the vulgar housekeeping—posting them on here is the safest and most accessible for me. These are two recpies I refer to often but going to the original sites puts my personal sanity in jeopardy. What is it with cooking blogs? their verbose backstories and floating ads? their endless loading times? The only provision Recipes: Paleo Lemon Bars

Eldership Announcement

Ed Hurst, the head pastor over at Kiln of the Soul online parish, offered eldership in his operation, and I accepted. I’ll link to Ed’s announcement when he makes it, just to let everyone know I’m not a complete liar. *ding* Your glasses are ready! You’re not alone in thinking it odd that a church Eldership Announcement

A Worship Song I Don’t Hate

That is, I actually like it: music and lyrics. The original is here, but I like the version posted below a little bit better. Note the lack of the word “I”; it’s only used once. Yes, I (heh) know…David used “I” plenty of times in the Psalms—what, is God’s word not good enough for me? A Worship Song I Don’t Hate

Darksky.net Is My Jam

The past few months saw the software engineer side of me agonize over weather.com’s mortally offensive UX. Ads everywhere, demonic load times, and the weather you’re looking for is somewhere. Please, stop. Farting around Google lead me to forecast.io, which recently became darksky.net. Loads quick, info that 80-90% of people are looking for is right Darksky.net Is My Jam

A Room Temperature, Gray, Lumpy Mush

Everything has to be something else. Actually, everyone has to be something you don’t expect. When everyone can be anything, nothing and no one becomes interesting. Novelty walks by and it’s a sore—tamp down on that bump of discoloration until it’s flat. It isn’t so bad that some men are smarter than most women, it’s A Room Temperature, Gray, Lumpy Mush

Links of Possible Relevance, Part 19

Stop Saying “Whilst” “Stop Crying” subreddit – That link doesn’t go anywhere because the subreddit doesn’t exist. Someone needs to start it, though, kind of like the “I Am Very Smart” or “Le Wrong Generation” subreddits, to highlight all the people who comment on Facebook images or Youtube videos of overtly sentimental subject matter with Links of Possible Relevance, Part 19

I Don’t Know What This Is, Part 7

It was a decent dystopia—it really wasn’t one…I was just the only person to know the context and the coming flood. I met a friend, I think from high school, in the multilevel city. He was pushing a small food cart. He opened the lid and tried to pass off the floating heads as meatballs, I Don’t Know What This Is, Part 7

I Don’t Know What This Is, Part 6

There was an Hispanic lady at the Chinese takeout place. I don’t know how I knew that. I tried my rudimentary Spanish on her, and she responded back with salsa-flavored friendliness. She knew I made an effort. I almost jumped the counter to tell the cooks my order because I thought that was customary. Someone I Don’t Know What This Is, Part 6

Two Battle Songs

Ran across these two songs, and I found them enjoyable. They are both from the game NieR, which I am told is one of the better action RPGs from the previous gen of consoles (Playstation 3, Xbox 360). The game features a levitating, talking book that follows the PC around. That’s already a good premise. Two Battle Songs

“This sentence has meaning.”

Rock and pop aren’t as self-referential to the extent hip-hop, blues, or country are—though rock and pop are a few tiny notches more than classical I attribute rock’s statistics to AC/DC’s songs about…rockin’, in the non-euphemistic sense. Rock takes itself too seriously. You have to take classical seriously because it took a long time and “This sentence has meaning.”

“Let’s Just Reset”

“Two minutes to drop. It’s alright to be scared. Remember, there is no courage without fear.” -Master Sergeant Farell, Edge of Tomorrow

Enjoy Another “I Changed the WordPress Theme” Post

I’ve grown close to Bootstrap-based layouts since tinkering with them a lot earlier this year at the company hackathon. Even very basic Bootstrap layouts were appealing, hence my use of the new theme, Bootstrap Canvas WP. There are no direct CSS customizations—just modifications made in WordPress’ factory theme customizer. I’ve only two issues: the menu Enjoy Another “I Changed the WordPress Theme” Post

Merry Christmas, 2016

A cover of a favorite Christmas song of mine. Its atonality is refreshing. Enjoy!

I Don’t Know What This Is, Part 5

Here’s a spoiler alert: zombies are tied to their lands, like feudal serfs in Medieval Europe. If their “lifeland” is doing well, they are going to be coming at you like strongmen. They draw energy from prosperous earth. A solution: drop every dead body far away from where they died so they will end up I Don’t Know What This Is, Part 5

I Don’t Know What This Is, Part 4

Her car is full, but that’s not the reason she leaves you on the side of the road. The scenery is pleasant enough, though. You end up back at the gymnasium bleachers soon after and take a nap on the top bench. You fall asleep wondering why there are so many snack food wrappers sticking I Don’t Know What This Is, Part 4
