This makes Prometheus a Christmas movie, I guess?
Interesting that Janek’s first scene, after awakening from cryosleep, doesn’t have him brusquely asking for a status report from his crew or a typical no-nonsense captain thing. It’s setting up his goofy Christmas tree. It shows a very human touch to his character, and a sacrificial one: the guy hadn’t had breakfast after sleeping for who knows how long. That and his “I just fly the ship” foreshadows his ultimate Christmas gift at the end where he crashes the Prometheus into the alien croissant ship, before it has the chance to escape to Earth with the mutagen—a great scene if you like the “normal dudes giving it all to complete a mission they weren’t ready for” dynamic.
