Years ago, I had found garudoh’s YouTube channel, where he published videos of game soundtrack medleys. From that channel I found Supradarky‘s original account before he got nuked, where he had posted this song. I put a lot of Supradarky’s tracks on my iPod to listen to at work, and as I named the files with the game first, this song was always first in the playlist because of the “a” in “Arc.” I wore out that playlist every workday for a good half a year until a rainstorm got my iPod wet on the bike ride home from the bus stop. So, this song in particular is a special one for me since I heard it first thing in the morning at work, and maybe a second or third time later in the day.
I never played this game, but I didn’t have to search long to find out where this song played. It’s at the beginning, when you’re poking around the city of Yewbell after the opening cinematics. The song has a carefree calmness; a leisurely sonic accompaniment to watching people go about their daily business on a sunny morning.
Listen below or load the mp3 of “Yewbell (Balmy Breeze)” in a new tab/window, or listen to “Yewbell (Balmy Breeze)” on YouTube.

I usually don’t listen to music when I’m working on anything, but in years past I have had relatives visit when I was trying to study something or writing, and I put on a collection of music that would drown them out with headphones while not distracting me. I first began collecting that kind of instrumental stuff when I stumbled on someone’s list of “guilty pleasures” on YouTube. That’s when I discovered the Tales/OC Remix collection. Your choice here fits right into that kind of collection.
This was the Tales of Symphonia remix album, right? This one:

I remember you mentioning that before, if that’s the one. I’ve listened through that a few times. None of the tracks stand out to me but it’s still good for background music.
Yeah, that’s the one. The music doesn’t get in the way of my thinking and writing. Something I really like too much will draw me off course.
I do that at work sometimes, just listen to a playlist of music I don’t know so I won’t pay too much attention to it, but is still not obtrusive enough to bring me out of the work zone.
