Here’s a nice still shot of nineties Gen X/Millennial culture. I was home from college on Christmas break when my brother took this photo. The date in the lower right corner is correct.
Some things to notice:
1. The crazy-patterned bed comforter.
2. The Jim Lee X-Men poster, view it in its entirety here. At first I thought it was done by Rob Liefeld, but the poster art was not unbearably ugly, and there are decently-drawn feet…bare ones, to boot. Liefeld would have never drawn those.
3. The other poster was an …And Justice For All-era Metallica poster, full view here.
4. Me, with long hair. Everyone has more hair when they were younger, even if you didn’t go bald like me.
5. The mini-Christmas tree. I always liked that thing.
6. The best part is me playing Chrono Trigger on the original Super NES, on a small CRT TV. I was at the eternal elevator scene, a notoriously annoying part of the game, which is why I have the matching annoyed look on my face.

Thanks. Being able to see someone younger is just a tiny piece of knowing them as if lifelong friends. It’s part of knowing the real you.
True! Even if you’re not familiar with the external/cultural markers.
