A mostly easy 3-ish mile hike. Since there were some rains the night before, the tree-heavy trail was very buggy. Not a bug big deal.
The trail starts on a servicing road, on the White trail, the single line you see in the northeast on the map. Getting into the loop proper, you have to go off-road, literally, and into a plowed area leading into a small clearing. For some reason there aren’t any markers, so you have to walk through the clearing and find the unmarked entrance:
A few photos of a super narrow gully in the south east corner of the trail. Very short but steep walls. My son was saying he could go down into it and climb up the end. Yes, he could have done that without much bodily harm, but I still said no:
We stopped for a rest and to wolf down our snacks, and he thought it would be funny to bring along some taco mix. I admit I chuckled:
One of the disc golf hole maps:
An interesting bridge of carved stone blocks, on the boggy southern end of West Deer Lake. My son ran across this, and of course floated the idea of jumping in (swimming is not allowed). I thought these blocks were connected somehow, but they were freestanding:
Looking across to the north end of the lake:
I assume this is one of the disc golf holes. I had friends who played but I never did, so I don’t know what they look like:
Another shot northward. Lots of lily pads. There was an old fellow fishing on our side, and a father and son on the other side doing the same, but for some reason you can’t see them at all in this or any photo:

Good series, Jay. Nice to see your part of the world.
Thanks. It’s nice to see my part of the world in person sometimes, too 🙂
