Video: Dunkey’s Prank Calls

I disliked the Jerky Boys when they were big in the 90s and early aughts. I could tolerate a few minutes of Crank Yankers before getting bored, and it seemed like a lot of it was scripted. I think it’s the crassness or mean-spiritedness of the callers that repulses me with the idea of prank calls in general.

YouTuber Dunkey has a good collection of prank calls he did, in just the right length for my limits. And he doesn’t swear, get graphic or mean at all. The prank call phenomenon is interesting psychologically, seeing how the different victims react. Most of the call receivers seem to take Dunkey seriously and actually try to help, some get annoyed, some just outright hang up, and one person recognized Dunkey.

As one person noted in the comments, the Gamestop employees were the most patient ones. You have to wonder the nature of the daily calls or in-store shoppers they get.

I guess I’m an extremist no this; I regard all pranks as sin. They are lies with no other purpose than to embarrass someone else without their consent.

Yeah, I can see that. I feel the same way about things like eating contests, though for obviously different reasons. Intentional wasting of food is repulsive to me by itself, but making a sport of it is an another level.

I first discovered by dislike of it by hearing a church I attended hold a pie eating contest. I didn’t have to watch it to be grossed out by it, morally.
