Not a 15k by accident, like last year. Additionally, this was an actual timed race, so my reputation as a world class runner was at stake.
I was able to get 2nd place in my division, the 40-49 year old dude category, and 14th overall for the runners. It was the first year of this race, so the turnout wasn’t as big as other, more established races. I’d think that plays into me finishing decently.
Below are two photos I stole from the New Kensington Fit Fest 5k Facebook group.
Here’s me in the white shirt and white beard at the starting line. The girl you see in the lower right is Daughter of Jay. She normally has Resting Happy Face but she was confused about something here:
Crossing the finish. Not pictured is my sense of almost dying because of sprinting the last stretch:

Congrats! And it was nice to catch a glimpse of your daughter, too.
Thanks Ed!
Awesome job! Did Elena participate?
She did…Lori and Nick as well, as walkers. But they all ran across the finish line like pros. Haha.
Way to smash it!
Josh! Thanks man.
Nice. Good job. My son does cross country, and I’m perfectly happy watching him do 5 k runs, but I look up to people who have that kind of endurance.
Cross country can be a beast!
