Octopath Traveler’s “Title Theme” is everything I want to hear in fantasy RPG when you start it up: symphonic, rousing, memorable, dynamic, all stuffed into two and a half minutes. Not to invoke Final Fantasy VI yet again, but that’s one thing that bugged me about its introductory music was that it was too ominous and Dracula horror movie sounding. Sure, a minor apocalypse occurs in the actual game, but I like a little levity served on the side when the main course is destruction.
I don’t think “Title Theme” song is quite an overture, since there’s a lot of melodies and themes from other tracks that aren’t in here, but the main melody here is repeated elsewhere in the soundtrack. I haven’t watched a playthrough of this game—not sure if I will, because it looks awfully long and involved, with multiple endings. We’ll see.

The music is about the best part of the game, from what I can tell. I liked this sample.
Did you ever watch a playthrough? Still debating whether I want to or not. It seems like something I’d enjoy.
Yes. I watched enough to know whether I liked it or not; I don’t. The game does not interest me, but the music is pretty cool. I tend to like game music far better than the games themselves; lots of nice instrumentals. I use a selection of game music with headphones to drown out conversations that hinder me from reading.
I do that as well, with the music, usually at the day job. I have a playlist long enough (maybe 2k tracks) that I shuffle. It works well for me.
