It was the only remaining account I had, besides the one at Goodreads, that was vaguely social or collaborative, that I didn’t really use all that much. I had a few small, personal JavaScript and CSS projects on there that I moved to the UX portfolio page. I don’t code all that much any more except for some small things at work and if the random personal situation requires it. GitHub has weird run-ins with controversial behavior, but that’s the same for every tech outfit these days. Coding, and tech in general, is such a big tent that there’s bound to be enough drive-by drama bombers to blow things up. I don’t see a reason to be involved if there’s no need.

This is a good time to withdraw from mainstream social media.
Indeed. GitHub isn’t quite social media though they do have an active forum. Most of their issues were internal, but it had signs that it wouls eventually spill over into its actual user base. It’s not worth it for me to keep things up there.
