Kickstarter Project: The Cosmic Courtship, by Julian Hawthorne
Who knew that Nathaniel Hawthorne’s son was an accomplished writer in his own right, and serialized a science-fiction romance story in a pulp publication, before sci-fi really took off as a genre? Not me, but I backed this fundraiser, because: “Mary Faust, a brilliant scientist, has developed a machine that can allow the conscious human soul to explore the cosmos! Her promising young assistant Miriam Mayne has accidentally transferred her consciousness to Saturn, where she falls under the enchantment of an evil sorcerer! Jack Paladin, her love, sets out after her on a thrilling celestial journey to the ringed planet!”

Rupert Sheldrake – The Science Delusion
A British scientist with that kind of hair says it might be good for science to separate from materialism.
Young Sherlock Holmes – “The Stained Glass Knight” scene
I kinda sorta remember seeing this, not in the theaters, but some time soon after on TV, when I was around 10 or 11. This was the first CGI humanoid character, and honestly it still looks pretty good; it looks and moves like one would expect an ambulatory, homicidal stained glass figure to look and move. Some of that may be because it’s a stylized human character, not so much realistic. It is still very effective (heh).

Five Reasons Why Christian Publishers Have Lost Male Readers (Pt. 2)
Ezekiel’s Vision
While I don’t think this is quite within the range of what Ezekiel saw, it still cuts an impression. See Ed’s post “Imagine: Angelic Beings” regarding this topic.

I recall seeing Sheldrake’s 10 points somewhere before. Nice stuff. I like the link on the dearth of Christian men’s fiction. There’s a lot more going wrong, but the writer does a nice job of getting started down a good path. It supports our general complaint with churchianity. For “Ezekiel’s Vision” the problem with Western artists is not knowing what to take literally and what is figurative.
Iain linked to a video of Sheldrake’s some time ago, on the forum. Maybe that’s where you heard of the 10 points. It was the first time I had heard about it. I haven’t read his book on the topic but it’s on my list.
That Phinheas video is an all time favorite for me.
It was their budget’s favorite video, too. Hah.
