It seems to go back so far it’s not worth chasing the history, but wherever power and wealth concentrate in America, it’s always got a big component of pedophilia. And that’s just one of many other vices. It’s no wonder the elite can never pull off the kind of horrific oppression we see in fiction, because they all compromise themselves as soon as they get close to the levers of power. There are no masterminds, only highly protected perverts and idiots.
I read/heard somewhere before that “power is fungible,” meaning that the human brain doesn’t care how it gets its dopamine hits from gaining power, just that it does at all. It makes sense that those who seek power at all costs, like those people that go into politics or executive-level business positions, have less inhibitions about getting their power fix in repulsive ways. They also have the means to acquire the fix and cover it up, at least temporarily.
Indeed. Good moral people don’t seek power, so the only ones going after it are those already morally compromised.
